The DREAM project (valiDation of Radical Engine Architecture systeMs) FP7-AAT-2007-RTD-1 (2008-2012)

Logo dreamThe team took part in the European project DREAM realized in the 7th Framework Programme (40 partners). The aim of the project was the development and validation of technologies to significantly reduce the aircraft engine specific fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions, while maintaining an acceptable level of noise. Project DREAM referred to new solutions to counter turboprop and turbofan engines. Tasks performed in IMiUE was coordinated by the AVIO SPA and included: cooperation in the design rotor tip seal air sealing optimization using CFD tools, evaluation of the structure of flow in the seal area, the analysis of heat transfer in the sealing area. As a result of the optimization to a reduction in leakage flux of 17.3%.
